Threats and Challenges to Urban Forests

We presented the following questions to assess respondents' perceptions of the biggest threats facing urban forests:

In this question, we would like to know how severe you think different threats to urban forests in your city are.

Directions: Please indicate how much of a threat you believe each item is to forests in and around your city by circling one number on the scale from 6 (A severe threat) to 0 (No threat at all).

The following figures display the results for the entire sample, comparisons between females and males, homeowners and renters, and across the three city areas for perceived threats to urban forests. The question asked how severe, on a scale from 6 ("A severe threat") to 0 ("No threat at all") respondents felt the threats were. The order (highest to lowest) in which the threats appear is based upon the average of the scores across the groups for each problem item.

The following tables show the statistical comparisons between groups. These tables show where statistically significant differences occur, and whether those differences could be considered minimal, typical, or substantial.
