Important Management Goals
This section presents the results of a question that asked respondents about how important they felt certain management goals were to them. The respondents were not required to rank the goals. We only asked about how important they felt a management goal was. In other words, they could value different goals equally highly if they wished. The responses available ranged from 6 ("Most important") to 0 ("Least important). Following is the presentation of the question set in the survey:
Urban forests are managed by the city. In this question, we would like to learn about how important you think different forest management goals are in your city.
Directions: Please rate how important you feel the following management goals are by circling one number on the scale from 6 (Most important) to 0 (Least important).
The following figures display the results for the entire sample, comparisons between females and males, homeowners and renters, and across the three city areas for important management goals. The order (highest to lowest) in which the threats appear is based upon the average of the scores across the groups for each problem item.
The following tables show the statistical comparisons between groups. These tables show where statistically significant differences occur, and whether those differences could be considered minimal, typical, or substantial.
