Rosgen Level III

Rosgen level 3

Rosgen Level 3 classification is a described as a Stream state or condition for Stream types earlier characterized in Level 2. Inputs into this characterization are:

  • Riparian Vegetation
  • Deposition Pattern
  • Debris Occurrence
  • Meander Pattern
  • Channel Stability Rating
  • Sediment Supply
  • Bed Stability
  • Width to Depth Ratio
  • Bank Erosion Potential
  • Stream Size and Order
  • Flow Regime
  • Altered Dimensions, Patterns, Profiles and Materials

Level 3 analysis requires extensive field visits, measurements and analyses of Valley, river, and riparian features.
