Bankfull Discharge to Drainage Area

geometric relation

A graphical regression between Bankfull Discharge and drainage area is typically performed on a log-log plot. Data points typically do not show whether the site was gauged or reveal the channel type, but these data should be noted elsewhere. As would be expected, Bankfull Discharge typically increases with drainage area, but the specifics of this relation are typically very regional. Deviations within and between regions often exist due to phenomenon such as human flow withdrawals or losses to subsurface drainage in Karst topography.
