Explanation of the Bankfull Depth Exercise

geometric math

Exercise Objective

To assess the Bankfull Depth estimate extracted from the 9-207 data.

Exercise Explanation

  1. Bankfull Discharge was given as 23,639 cfs
  2. Graphically, Bankfull Discharge of 23,639 cfs intersected the plotted data regression line at a Bankfull Depth of approximately 12 ft along the 9-207 data points and of approximately 15 ft along the regressed data line.
  3. Mathmatically, Bankfull Discharge of 23,639 cfs inserted into the regression equation on the graph resulted in a Bankfull Depth value of 14 ft.
